Welcome back to the last instalment of Behind the Bloggers.  You can read all our previous posts here.  Today we have Abbie from Grumbling Grace, Andrea from Living on Cloud Nine and Sheila from Making the Most of Every Day.

1. What was your favourite Halloween costume as a child? Photo evidence?

My parents never let me shop at thrift stores as a child because they felt very strongly that they existed for those in need (which I can appreciate) so the pinnacle of my childhood Halloween costumes wasn't the year I went as a Care Bear or a clown (of the non creepy variety), it was the year I went as a hobo. Likely insensitive today, I was so excited to buy my costume from the men's section of my local thrift store. It's the small things really.
Mmmmm, well I always seemed to want to be a witch....every.single.year!! As an adult...Hit Me Baby One More Time....Britney Spears!!!

Oh dear! I don't have any pictures of me as a kid. My mom has them all! I can only remember one. My mom made it for me. I wanted to be a fairy complete with cone hat. The fabric was navy blue and it had stars and moons on it. Being Italian, my mom loved going door to door and getting free candy! She would carry spare bags so I wouldn't get tired. She would swap with me and empty my bag into a bat that she would carry. Isn't she a saint? ;)

2.  Do you have an essential dish that has to be served at Thanksgiving?

Pavlova. Of course the turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce are all present, but my mom makes a strawberry and cream topped meringue dessert that puts any pumpkin pie to shame and now I'm making it at most holidays!
Friends, I am soooo traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving. I need Turkey, stuffing , mashed potatoes and gravy, all made by my amazing mom. No one makes a Thanksgiving meal like her. The dish always requested of me is my sweet potato crisp casserole.  True story: when I was pregnant with my oldest son, I was craving turkey and stuffing. I thought that was odd and then at my first Doctors visit, I found out my due date was on yep....Thanksgiving! Although he was born a week past turkey day, I seriously craved Thanksgiving foods the whole time!

I have several essential dishes. I love dressing so that's a must have. I also must have a sweet potato casserole (but not the kind with marshmallows.) My kids like for there to be mashed potatoes and gravy. I also must have cranberry sauce. I've made cooked kind and raw relish kind. Just not canned.

3. If you could star on any tv show- which show would you be on and what character would you play?
All right, while I love watching everything from Modern Family to Call the Midwife, my childhood dream was to be Sarah Stanley on Road to Avonlea. I was certain I could rival Felicity for Gus Pike's undying love and run through the meadows of Prince Edward Island happily ever after.
This is easy but probably not how you think I'd answer......It's Beverly Goldberg, the mom on The Goldberg's. My husband says that is me too a tee plus I loved the 80's! Her  outfits are spot on and her overdramatized love and outlandish acts as a fierce mama bear for her family is so me. She's competitive, she's a speed walker, she's a great cook and being ultra involved in her families life is her jam. She may smother at times but she means well and I love her lines and physical comedy.

Downton Abbey. I would play Cora since I don't have an English accent! That way I could wear all the pretty dresses and be waited on hand and foot.

4.  Who has been the most influential person in your life?

My mom has had the most profound effect on my life. I look up to her even more now that I am parenting two girls. Not only is she my friend but I often come to her for advice or wonder how she faced some of the challenges in her life with grace and cheerfulness, from moving multiple times to working with kids to exploring and creating at every age.
My mom. She has taught me to be strong but always to have a giving and loving heart and to be grateful for everything I have in life. I am an only child and while I was lucky to have my parents all to myself, they taught me hard work and never was I spoiled or selfish. Let's also mention that my mom has sweet style!! I learned everything I know about fashion from her. When I was in high school we wore all the same clothes and shoes and then my foot grew and we could no longer share. We still occasionally share clothes and accessories and I am blessed that we work at the same place and can go for walks and talks everyday.

Well, as we all know, it takes a village but if I had to narrow it down I would have to say my parents. They have shaped who I am more than any other person. I have wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps and be a stay-at-home mom and raise my kids but still manage to make a little income on the side like she has. I wanted my husband to be like my daddy: hard-working, handsome, caring, loving. Bingo!

5. If you could only shop in one store- where would you buy your clothes?

While I love the selection at the Bay or Simon's, I honestly have a Joe Fresh problem right now... and since I can buy entire an entire wardrobe and all of my groceries at Superstore and I've been dressing in more casual styles, that's the winner!
Anyone that knows me knows my answer is most likely Target. Now, this hasn't always been the case, it just seems like the past year and a half, they have gotten the cutest styles. From cute boho tops and dresses, darling graphic tees and great staples, I find something every time I'm just running in for ya know....milk, hairspray and a card, only to come out with a cart full and new outfit to boot. If you ask me about my favorite online clothes shopping: Nordstrom hands down and the main reason besides such a cute and large selection, is that they offer free shipping to and from...need to order 3 sizes of jeans cause you're not sure...easy slap the sticker returns and impeccable customer service.

If it could only be one store it would have to be Target. I can get everything I need - from clothes to accessories to shoes to intimates to make up!
