Dear TBB: Home Decorating On A Budget + What Spring Bag to Buy

May 03, 2018, by Daily Style Finds

Hi, I am Lisa from Daily Style Finds, and today, we are back answering your questions.  If you have a question for us - leave us a comment below or send us an email!  We'd love to hear from you.

Question #1: "I am on a limited budget and am looking for suggestions on to update my house without spending a lot of money."

Lisa: Actually, that's a good question - because I am currently updating my house - and am looking for those small accents to add a "pop" to my room.  I look for bookshelf accents, like this fun one and, accent pillows can do a lot for a little cost - like these "spring" floral ones that are only $13.  Mirrors are also great ways to add some wall decor - and these trendy ones will not break the bank - and will add a focal point to a room.

Christy: Small changes can mean big impact when it comes to decorating.  You can easily (and cheaply!) change a few small accessories in a room to update it completely.  Changing the cushions in the living room, the towels in the bathroom, or the charger plates in the dining room are all small changes that will update the room instantly.  I moved recently and Wayfair has quickly become my go to for all things home decor.  The selection, price range, customer service and return policy are all fantastic.

Abbie: Since I recently resigned from my job to stay home with my two girls, I know all about limited budgets (gulp)! With a little elbow grease, I feel like the easiest and most cost efficient way to spruce up a space is with paint. Lately I've been loving the white and grey tones that brighten up a room. If you're not willing to commit to paint, buying new accents like throw pillows, blankets or a rug in a fun color will absolutely freshen up your home without breaking the bank. My favourite style guru for all things house and home is Jillian Harris. Her Instagram feed is divine.

Question #2: "I am looking to update my handbag for spring - suggestions???"

Lisa: My suggestions for new bags for summer would be either this trendy straw shopper tote that is only $30!!! Or, another suggestion would be either a white bag or a blush pink bag.  Always good to lighten up the bag for spring/summer.

Christy: When it comes to handbags, an over the shoulder strap is key for me during all seasons.  I like my hands free to hold my coffee, shopping bags or my kids hand as we walk in a parking lot.  For spring I choose bright colors, aqua, coral, pink, white.  I am not afraid of making a bold color choice.  If color isn't for you, a black purse can be brightened up by adding a colorful tassel or a bright wallet.

Abbie: I never say no to handbags, but I honestly feel that a new handbag can update your look while you continue to incorporate classics in footwear and jackets. I am loving the rattan circular trend this spring. Here are my three current favourites that wont break the pocket book:like this one and this one from Zara. Whether they're a full circle or almost a fanny pack, I can't get enough of the natural woven look.  In the end, I went with a larger handbag from Nordstrom and I LOVE it. It's cute for a wedding or church but can be dressed down for drinks on a patio or the beach. No regrets here!
