4 Ways Dance Can Help You Get a Better Body

When we look at a dancer we see someone who is fit, toned, and lovely. Of course, you expect that dancing keeps her thin and lean. But there are many more things dancing does for the body. We are going to share some of these things with you now. We hope you will find the inspiration to get off the couch and start moving. Nothing can do more for you than dancing.

Before we begin

It may take you a little while to find your style of dancing. Even so, there are some basics that you need no matter which style of dance you select.

  • Gym bag for carrying the essentials if you are going to dance at a studio
  • Warm up suit
  • Hair supplies to keep your hair out of your way
  • A water bottle
  • Protein bar
  • A pair of discount dance leotards by Just For Kix
  • Dance shoes (worn only at the studio)

There are more items that you will add as you go along But this is fine for a beginner.

Ways dancing helps your body # 1

We all know that dancing is great exercise which helps keep our weight down, While that is true, there is much more to it. When you are dancing, you are building muscle. Muscle is the key to the lean body you crave. Muscle makes your metabolism faster which explains why a dancer can slip off the diet wagon sometimes and never gain an ounce.

Throw away your bathroom scales. Muscle weighs more than fat. It does not matter how much you weigh. Fat is being replaced with muscle which will make you thinner even if the scale says you weigh the exact same amount. You will soon learn which foods make you feel good and which make you sluggish.

Dancing also increases your heart rate which keeps your metabolism higher and your body healthier.

Ways dancing helps your body # 2

Dancing lowers anxiety. It releases chemicals in your body that makes you feel good. You are in a better mood, more focused, and emotionally in control, due to your brain getting the work out it needs.

Ways dancing helps your body # 3

Dancing will help put your body back into the shape it once was. You will be limber. You will hold your balance better. You will feel the fog lift from your brain and you will think more clearly. Your memory will improve.

Ways dancing helps your body # 4

Dancers can dance anywhere. If you are feeling blue, turn on some music and cut loose. You can dance yourself into a “dancers high” just like pro runners get into a runner's high.” You can dance out with friends in the studio, or at a party. The thing is to, release your stress and let your mind and body flow freely for a while. This is a form of self-control that few people master.

Conclusion

Dancing is about body and mind control. It is about learning to control your entire being. Unlike other athletics, a dancer must be in control of her muscles, joints, and flexibility at all times. She must remember where she is supposed to be and how she is to move next.

Depending on the type of dance she is doing, she must be aware of how her looks, while she is moving her body in ways that most of us would find impossible.

She must control her feelings and emotions. No matter what feelings a dancer feels while dancing a move she must be smiling and beautiful on stage.

A dancers body is more than her person. It is her future, her way of expressing herself, and her means of support. A dancer takes real good care of herself, and her body serve her well.
