Feature Friday: Sarita from It's my Girls' World
October 28, 2016, by Deena @Shoes to Shiraz
Welcome back to another fantastic feature Friday. We're very happy to bring you Sarita from It's my Girls' World today. She's an absolutely stunning Canadian blogger with impeccable taste and an incredibly beautiful family. I asked her to share two of her favourite posts from her blog with us and she said:
Since
it’s fall let’s go with my pumpkin poppers recipe: a favourite on the blog and in my house and my new house tour was a favourite on the blog this year!
Do you have any children? What
parenting advice would you give to a someone having a new baby?
I
have two girls… a sweet seven year old and a sassy four year old… alright, she
is super sweet also… most days :). Raising them is the greatest
privilege and pleasure of my life. I would remind new parents of that and tell
them that the days are long but the years are short…. Oh and I’d tell them after the first month, get
your kids on somewhat of a routine—for your sake as well as theirs!
What is something that people might be
surprised to know about you?
People
are always surprised to find out that I’m from the Caribbean (Trinidad and
Tobago) and I moved to Canada in my twenties… you know, last month ;-). I try
to visit TNT (that’s what the locals call it) once a year. Oh and because of
this, I like hot sauce with every meal.
What hobbies do you have other than
blogging?
I
love cooking and baking but even though I’d like to bathe in milk chocolate, I
don’t. Well not most days anyways. So I like to transform recipes into healthier versions of
themselves. I guess so that I can be a healthier version of myself, I dunno!
If you could interview anyone, who would it
be and why?
I’d like to interview
Jennifer Lawrence. I feel like we’d be pals! I would totally fall when
accepting an award.
What
inspired you to start blogging?
I had begun to read a
few other blogs before I started my own but The Krim Family blog was the one
that really did me in. As awful as their story is, it was such a blessing that
Marina had recorded all of the little things her kids did. I spent hours and
hours reading their story. I had already begun to forget all the little things
that my first three year old did as a baby. I wanted to capture all the
delicate and beautiful moments and share them… and so I did!
What
is your style “uniform”?
I adore tunics and
leggings and then I have fun with the accessories of the season. Give me ALL
the scarves, statement necklaces, stud earrings and booties! This year I’m
loving those open toed booties though
sadly these days, my Canadian toes will be freezing if they adorn my feet.
Tell us about your dream vacation
I really, really want to visit Greece or Spain!
The cuisine, the architecture, the beautiful beaches! Maybe in the next
few years when the littles aren’t so little.
